spaces |
Once you have purchased all the
equipment it is time to set it up. First place the speakers
at locations 60 degrees apart from your listening position at the
maximum possible distance. Not too close to any walls or
corners or these will cause a comb filter effect that will distort
the sound.
Next locate the equipment as close to the speakers as possible
to minimise the cable lengths and thus reduce the chance of the
ingress of noise. A rack is the traditional choice for
equipment, but many clients are opting to hide their equipment in
cupboards or cabinets.
Ensure the gear has plenty of ventilation, if not - install a
quiet computer fan or similar on a thermostat to ensure the long
life of your equipment.
If your interconnects have arrows on them, these indicate the
end of the lead that has the earth attached -this end must be
pointing towards the centre of your system - usually a
preamplifier.
If there is also an amplifier connected, the arrows would point
AWAY from the amp towards the preamp.
